How hydrophobic coatings actually work

The short, non-marketing explanation of water-repellent treatments for automotive glass.

Surface energy in plain English

A hydrophobic coating lowers how strongly water wants to spread across the surface. Instead of forming a film, water pulls itself into beads.

Once beads form, airflow and vibration move them off the glass, which is why the effect is strongest while driving.

Preparation matters more than the product

Coatings bond to clean glass. Applying over road film gives patchy results and shorter life.

What it will not do

It does not replace wipers, does not improve your headlights and does not shorten stopping distances. It reduces water buildup, nothing more.

Nuvello products support visibility and vehicle care. They do not replace safe driving practices or correct vehicle maintenance.
